Mr Ayaanle delivered his important speech in his native language. Nonetheless his arguments resonated across the hall. His reasonable, modest and humble ways of talking about the historic relations between Somaliland and Saudi Arabia were somewhat so dignified and well thought.
In his speech Mr Ayaanle reminded the Saudi Kingdom of their obligation towards other fellow Muslims as the Kingdom is the keeper and custodian of one of the most important Holy Shrines of Islam.
But he also insinuated that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has also more immediate responsibility to its neighbours who share not only religion but a common history and that they are expected to be their brothers keeper in times of difficulty.
He said "it’s and fitting and unfair that due to our political will we are now unable to use our own passport to visit the Hajj”
In his speech Mr Ayaanle appealed to the King of Saudi Arabia to allow Somaliland pilgrims to be able to go to Hajj using their own national passport and remove any pre-existed restrictions which previously prevented them doing so.
